Rachel’s Emerald & Enamel Ring
Rachel came to me with the idea to turn her mother’s very cool but impractical ring into something more her style. The old ring (pictured below), is a very interesting design but it can be hard to wear given how easily it catches.
I took out the stones, melted down the gold and created the ring seen here. The repeating octagon design is made to mimic the typical cut of emeralds. The round emeralds from her mother’s ring are surrounded by hand-engraved radiating lines. The large “emeralds” add a richness to the piece but are actually vitreous enamel filled cavities that add even more color to the ring. The overall low profile and tapered band allow for this special occasion band to be worn with comfort. Now Rachel can wear her mother’s ring of often as she likes, in a way that suits her personal style.
