Pearl Necklace Remakes

These three necklaces were a gift from aunt to nieces. The necklaces were made using Kasumi pearls that were inherited from the aunt’s mother. The pearls were originally part of a bracelet but now have a life as pendants. A piece like this is a reminder that jewelry is much more than the sum of its parts. Jewelry is quite sentimental and I can only imagine the layered emotions that these necklaces will have attached to them. Creating pieces like these are the reason I love making jewelry.

Each niece has her own style which is fun to see reflected in the design they chose. I love the range in creative direction each of them took with their grandmother’s pearl. The necklaces also reflect the occasion in which they will be worn, giving an additional nod to their personality. It was so nice to be a part of this process with the aunt and nieces working together. Creating new necklaces from an heirloom was such a special experience and I know the nieces are so grateful to their aunt.
