Katie gave her engagement ring and her late husband’s wedding band to her daughter, Maria, to use for her wedding band. Maria wanted to surprise her mom with a gift back made from her dad’s band. The gold from the dad’s band was used for both her wedding band and the mom’s pendant. Normally one band would not be enough to make two pieces but the addition of a little gold made it possible. We changed the alloy of the dad’s 14K band by adding in some 24K gold when casting which brought the alloy up to 18K. We did this so that Maria’s engagement and wedding band would be the same karat.

The center diamond remaining from the engagement ring was gifted to Katie from her husband and now Maria would be gifting it back to Katie but adding touch of her own. Both Maria and Katie are July babies so we thought it fitting to use their ruby birthstone as a little accent. It acts as a reminder that from her husband she got Maria and also of the shared bond between mother and daughter. The simplicity of the necklace allows it to be worn everyday, right over her heart.
